200+ miles on the longest day of the year, Kent to Somerset, starting at sunrise, free to enter.

I'm in.

Interesting! Hassle for the start and finish though. I'm doing my own 200 mile ride in June with 4 friends. This is a box ticking exercise for me. I can't see why I would want to do it again!

I like the sound of this, it'd be something to train for...

I'm very tempted.....
I've just done my first 100, with 5700 ft of climbing it wasn't the easiest route...

I think I could hit condition by then :-)

As mentioned - great in theory, (and there are a few of us that would be keen among my mates) but the logistics of getting back would be a pain in the bum..
Unless we stay a night, and then ride back the following day...

We've yet to sort logistics, waiting to see if any more join us. Chances are I'll drive down there earlier in the week and bike/train it back to Sussex, that way Change of clothes etc can be at the finish.

11 year bump but saves another thread.

I've been talked into doing this next summer. Has anyone else made bad life choices and done this event? How much pain am I in for? My longest ride to date is c250k which was Liege Bastogne Liege, in horrendous weather. Lots of 200km rides over the years but never cracked an old school double century.

It hugely depends on the route and elevation. I last did 200miles in wales with 19,000ft elevation. Depending on your fitness and what you plan to do for the next week or so, will answer how much pain you will be in.

I had trained reasonably for this ride, but the elevation killed me, I would suggest using smaller gearing that you think you need. also get some long days in the saddle in the build up.

I suffered with achillies pain for 2 months after.

Would I do it again, yes.

If you're ok doing 200km I'd say you'll be fine - it's not a very hilly route
