Who's going?

I'll be there (spectating- my car will probably only ever RWYB even when it's finished). It's my first visit in years and I'm really looking forward to seeing how much the place (and racing) has improved. Sifting through the other threads it seems there have been a load of improvements to the site- I think the shower block was brand new the last time I went!

I'm also bringing my eldest son (25)& a mate or two of his to give them a taste of drag racing. It would also be nice to put faces to names/sign ons.

Now to the main point of this thread: if I bought tickets for the Saturday/Sunday can I get in on the Friday night after the racing has finished? It's a bloody long way from Blackpool in a diesel Nissan Sunny (stop sniggering at the back) with four big blokes in it and would be easier to camp on Friday night rather than leave at silly o'clock on the Saturday morning.

Oh, and by the way- if anyone needs emergency crew help I'm available for a few hours on the Saturday and Sunday (I'm a mechanic & RAC patrol) if you're absolutely desperate.

Just to keep things cool here's a pic of the progress on my old shed:

Thanks- i might get to spend a few hours on it this weekend. Should get the 4 ink arms made and the wishbone mostly made (apart from the machined bit required for the sliding joint).

When's the best time to come over and say hello?

EDIT: looking at your profile I guess you're not racing then!

Just called Santa Pod and the ticket date applies from 8am, so I can't get in and set up camp in the evening after the racing stops on the Friday.

Seems dumb to me, but then I don't make the rules.

well that's the tickets bought- with a 200 mile journey to make I'll take a gamble on the weather before going in, I think.

Reckon those fuel teams can afford the fine if they've registered late anyway.tongue out

So, apart from me (and two passengers), whose going? We have a European Finals thread so we may as well use it!

Only 4 people confirmed so far? Thats a bit of a worry for the promoter, dont you think? Do you think that is why so few racers have entered?

I feel it my civic duty to confirm my attendance in the hope that it will tempt a few more pro teams out of the woodwork.

Me and my son Harry (12) will be attending but I have rain off tickets from the main event so I wont be making them rich.
I have a modded Volvo too but it is on hold at the moment due to my old solicitor making an error with the sale of my old shop, they admit negligence and it's cost me 20k so far - thus im pennyless frown

Great to see that since I confirmed my attendance last night, such luminaries as Dave Wilson, Derek Flynn and the Habermanns have been persuaded out of retirement, along with several more pro Racers who have finally entered. This proves that 'People Power' works!!

FACT!

Perhaps if a few more people on here could say they are going to be on the bank, some other racers, such as Urs Erbacher, the entire RFM team, Turner Motorsport, Andy Robinson etc might realise that having spent all season and a small fortune chasing championships all over europe, there is still some point turning up to the final round.

Let all the forum regulars confirm their attendance over the week, and see if the entry list grows as well.

I bet it does...rolleyes

BTW, I know its not finished, but there is something seriously right about that Volvo! Cant wait to see it finished.

STOP PRESS!!! Four more people confirm their attendance today (including Very Old Fart), and suddenly we have a four car AA/FC eliminator!

Keep it up, everyone

Same here. There's no Sportsman ET round there, so I won't be racing, but I'll be there one way or another...
