Does the charge air temperature alter your choice of spark plugs?

For example, if you had a charge air temp of 50°C , would you require a different plug if you then had 30°C constant at the inlet?

Presuming all other peramiters were the same.

I'd do a chop and see what the electrode says but I imagine that a change in air volume/fuel mass would make a hotter burn meaning higher temps. So in theory maybe and in practice maybe not.

Not for me , those kind of variations probably cover most turbo vehicles i see 50+ degrees at the plenum in the fire up lanes and usually less than 20 degrees on a day like today when driving and of course -170 degrees when the nitrous hits

not sure about charge temp but, 20C change in atmospheric air temp would affect the relative humidity and therefore alter the AFR. By how much I don't know. If you experienced a higher cylinder temp / EGT, then I'm not sure whether the variance in temp would be enough to warrant a plug change or whether it would be easier to correct with fueling and timing changes. Both affect EGT.

It's not as relevant in the UK as we don't see the change in elevation or temp like they do in the US. I think (don't quote me) the principla is the higher the humidity, the less oxygen there is available in the charge, therefore you jet down to compensate.

Another consideration is whether the engine is efi or carbed. Efi can alter fuelling to suit whereas a carb can't
