thanks chaps... I'm still planning on Comp elim at the main event and euros, unless S/E gets back into those meets.
It wasn't a hard decision,it was the tyre rule that started it all for me.I think it's a very sensible move with no downside at all...
well, you will get "classic car tax" so no extra expense! It wasn't a hard decision,it was the tyre rule that started it all for me.I think it's a very sensible move with no downside at all...
Nice one.
I admire people who can run Street n Strip in those high HP / Low ET comps.
However I missed the original debate. (link anyone ?)
If your vehicle has all the required insurance, mot, tax etc etc blah blah
And runs like that on the track just as if you have driven it street legal.
It's a street legal racing machine.
I know a few guys who trailer their vehicles to meets buts thats to save fuel and
avoidable wear and tear etc.

Hmm is this tyre rule something like the Power Tour series? you run at York, Shakey & the Pod with a 10.5 inch wide tyre..
Sheeet I have trouble hooking on a 12" MT drag slick and that's only with 640 RWHP
How the hell do you guys get those numbers with a 10.5 inch one??
I know I don't run in the same league but there seem to be a lot of politics
in those groups. b
ks to that.

There is a lot of politics and I wish the people causing it would step back and see ho detrimental it is to the class.
As I understand it the debate regards a drag radial tyre which is street legal (and arguably safer than the other options). Personally I do not know the reasons people argue against this - a cynic would say they cannot afford the change but know performance is better on it. This is spoken as someone not involved in the class who just likes seeing insanely quick street drivable cars.
That said it has been debated a million times before and I am not sure bringing it up again in public would be of benefit to anyone.

Hopefully this season will see an end to the division of opinion over which tyres should be allowed once and for all.
I'm out this year due to a combination of financial and personal reasons, none of which are anything to do with the class so I'm sure some people will argue that I do not have the right to an opinion on the subject this year but the truth is the drag radial cars have almost equalled the sportsman pro cars this year in numbers; hell, in at one round the eliminations were only contested by drag radial cars; not a single Sportsman Pro tyred car went through.
A first in SE history if I'm not mistaken, proof indeed that a lot of the drivers in SE do want to use them.
Of course, whether that will be enough to sway the vote, or even get a vote, at the end of the season remains to be seen. In the same way the class has moved forward in terms of race car construction, power adders, safety etc it has to be hoped that the tyre choice will be made to compliment those changes.

no idea what time they are leaving the pod , best to ask on the day.
Assuming they use the usual route good place to take shots is as they come down the long road [ Harold road ]into Bozeat , then as they leave the filling station at the A425/A409 roundabout on the way to Olney, then the Homebase car park Wellingboro for the hot start.
