Jesus what a crap start to the year from an economy perspective - can it get any worse...... frown

Can't believe how bad current exchange rates are in relation to the £ versus $, Yen, Euro etc - seriously bad news.

What's everyone else's plans if it stays this way or gets even worse?

I have just decided to knock 2 competiton rounds out today for this year now & if it gets worse will knock out more - we have to see some positive news sometime soon .......

The weather will be lovely this year...
That's Sods law coming into play. You cant afford to go racing when it's sunny. You can afford to go racing when that's a monsoon storm.

My temporary solution is: Eat toast every day of the week, with the occasional Mars bar, or perhaps chocolate orange. I really had to cut back on Malteser intake.

On a serious note, it looks a little grim, especially when there's a lot of US sourced bits to be bought. What a difference a year makes.

Forecast? Or was that throw a coin onto a list of weather conditions and see which one it lands on?!?! wink

I thought your datalogger thingy had a weather forecaster in it (y'know, around 5ft 7", blonde, tells you the weather and stuff)?

That must be an optional extra...

We could all get a job application form from northern rock, I hear its good money and you get a bonus. lets go racing.

Since I started LA Racing Parts, I have seen the dollar rate go really low in the 1.20's.

To be honest I think things are going to get much worse in 2009 , as well as duff mortgages {both in the US and the UK which had plenty of it's own Ninja mortgages} £b were pumped into massively over geared Private Equity deals like Boots and I expect these to start falling apart by mid year followed by a crisis amongst commercial property companies as half the country is empty and they now still have to pay rates.

The best hope for rescue is that Obama makes the US feel optimistic { dispite the reality} and that sparks a return of confidence and the US drives a global recovery. Even in this case I can't see the £ strengthening against the $ !

Bill are you sure this is correct? The £ is VERY strong against the $ right now. That's why racers are at a disadvantage.. Bob

Sorry no it's not when you get say $2.50 to £1 the £ strong and US parts are cheap, currently it's more like $1.30 to £1 and falling so parts {and trips to the US} start getting expensive. The £1 is weak against everything else at present and although these things are not really predictable I expect it to get worse.

It would be good news if you were exporting stuff to the US but as we don't make anything in the UK any more it's of limited help.
