I want to learn to drift – any good day courses?

I am O.K at the opposite lock stuff, my ultimate ambition is to be able to, on demand, drive an entire roundabout sideways.
Has anyone done any really good courses?

Oulton Park do great "introduction to drifting days" on their rally circuits. Good fun and you don't stress the car and tyres too much.

Autocar are holding a 'drift school' at Silverstone on the 30th of this month. £199pp with Caterhams.

Do they wet the track or something? I want some one on one tuition as well?

Oulton Park only have 30th May and 6th June. I can't find any other drift days to book for this spring / summer anywhere. (let alone convenient.)

Will have to find a good car park!

Yes - they wet the track throughout the day. There are two tracks and instruction available. You're not going fast but in my car it was very VERY easy to drift but very hard to keep it going. Well worth the price.

presumably when the roundabout is totally clear of traffic on or incoming?

Just thinking of my family, should you find the lessons don't make you entirely infallible . . .

I 2nd the above & can really recommend Autocar or Caterham drift days at Silverstone. Done this twice and plan to do every year. Top fun, great feeling, well organised & top value.

Oulton looks the best option from what I've seen. They have a very low grip drift/rally circuit to practise on - using their cars if you want.

I've done the caterham thing and mostly you are queuing and you don't get any instruction, just belted in and timed when you do a little sprint course. Maybe it's changed.

I did one of these a while back and didn't rate it very highly at all. Thankfully my work paid for it so it wasn't my money that was wasted.

you could come on one of my days at alconbury (cambs) and learn. Normally I teach to correct the slide but i'm sure we can play at holding the car sideways.

dont expect your tyres to last long though!!

Oulton Park good is fun - try not to come off the track though it's getting roughen up now.

Tution is free and good.

Once you've been on a course, practise makes perfect. Try Santa Pod, they hold Drift what ya brung days, wednesdays I think. Good value.

CAT Driver Training do drift courses at Millbrook...

I've done a track course there (which was excellent) and although I've not done the drift course, a friend who has said it too was excellent. Colin is a superb teacher.
