Cheap Track Days

I have just purchased a 7 type car and I am looking to do track days in it. Can anyone suggest a good venue/company; I am a complete novice and feel slightly intimidated by it all!
The cost of the current track days seems extremely expensive at the moment and I am worried I could loose this money if the car breaks down or the weather is s
te!
I have looked at the MSV novice days and like the idea of them being approx £100 for half a days session - but will this be too short?
I live in the North of England and do not particularly want to drive as far as somewhere like Brands/Goodwood.

tbh as a complete novice the msv novice day is not a bad place to start at all even if it is expensive. I would be tempted to do the full day and take it at your own pace. Make sure you get a lesson too. I started with them at Oulton park and found it very satisfactory (although don't believe them that it's novices only on track, not that it caused any problems). The briefings were good, cones to mark entry/apex, a bit more lee-way with blue flags and there were very few incidents on the day.

Get a set of waterproofs. 7's can be a giggle in the rain as all grip disappears (just keep an eye on your mirrors), it certainly shouldn't stop you getting out there. As for breakdowns, pretty inevitable with most nails at some point. Take a tool kit, though most other punters are helpful if you need to borrow a jack or whatnot. Most things can be fixed pretty easily and quickly, unless of course you have a serious failure, which is what breakdown cover is for. These things happen.
I would recommend doing a couple of airfield days first just to get a feel for things (not to mention they're usually cheaper).

I wouldnt bother with half days....you will only get the trackday bug and wish you were there all day.
Plus on half days,you will only just be up to speed and then you will have to go home.
If you go on an afternoon session,then the rest of the people will be flying by 11am and you will only just be starting after dinner.
Oulton is a very good circuit,but quite expensive.

The cheapest trackday you will find is at Teesside Autodrome in Middlesbrough, ......... on arrival in the morning, bacon roll & a cup of tea to enjoy while the briefing is held, open pit lane until lunch time,..... ham, egg, & chips for lunch, followed by open pit lane for the afternoon, finishing off with a 10 minute qualifying, and 30 minute race in twin engined karts!! ............. £99!!!!
I've just booked my first trackday. It's at Abingdon Airfield with Motorsport Events. IT's £119 for the track day, but I've also gone for the £50 for an hour's tuition option to make sure I get the most out of it. Insurance is another £110 on top for a single event, but it's cheaper than a new car.
If that goes well I'll book an MSV novice day at either Brands or Snetteron, let's see how Abingdon goes first

I did the track day at Teeside Autodrome. And i have to say its the best place to go for value for money. I got a rediculous amount of track time, food throughout the day and then did the half hour endurance race which was a great laugh! Then a pint at the end of the day to top it off!!!!!
For £99 you cant complain, they are highly professional and the tracks great to.
Booking my next day very soon!!!!

This sounds pretty good value and is not a million miles away - been doing some research and everyone that has been to Teeside reccomends it; the only downside is their website is pretty crap!LOTUS ON TRACK - can't believe no-one mentioned them yet.

Don't think you want "airfield days", unless you have an airplane as well...
- Lower prices than an average track company.
- Very good driving standards in general.
- Big array of events (actually probably the biggest TDO in the UK) (however many of them take place in France).
- They wont take your money if you cant attend a track.

Not sure that's quite the right spelling!
(Certainly not the image they'd like to project anyway).A friend of mine has recently recommended the LOT days to me and I'm thinking about joining - they do look great value and apparently the driving standards are generally very good too.

To Join LoT you need a Lotus- Lower prices than an average track company.

Actually no, you need a Lotus or a 2-seat sportscar of a similar nature. I have a Fisher Fury for example, which they consider perfectly acceptable [I did email them to check]. As I understand it, Loti and Seven-style cars make up most of the trackday traffic but by no means all of it.Ruari
