Breakdown recovery from track days
Discussion
Just thought it might be help people to know that the AA's terms and conditions specifically state that track days are 'ok'. Their General Exclusions refer to Motor Sport Events, but then state they do not consider track days to be Motor Sport Events, therefore they WILL recover you.
I didn't know this when a wheel bearing collapsed on me at Cadwell on Monday, and I limped it down the road before making the phone call!

RAC have no problems with track day recovery as long as the vehicle remains road legal.
Here's how this week went for me:
Monday 16th- I put my 1984 Golf Gti on cover with the RAC.
Tuesday 17th - Trackday at Oulton Park, 10mins from the end the engine died in the paddock. Car left overnight.
Wednesday 18th - Called RAC, explained situation and met them for recovery to garage of my choice.
The only concern the RAC operator had was if the car was road legal, if it didn't have a tax disc he was not allowed to tow it anywhere. He mentioned that 10 years ago they were under strict instruction to not recover from race tracks but said he's done quite a few recoveries from Oulton Park.
I felt a little guilty putting the car on cover then making use of the policy 48hours later, but as we all know, sh*t happens.
