As per title, just booked a BaT day at Donnington on Fri 22nd with their R400. sharing with a mate (Papercup).

Never been to Donnington & not driven a Caterham before, so should be interesting!

Read only positive things about BaT & have always wanted to see what a Caterfield is like on track.

Also been wanting to do Donnington for a long time, so can't wait! biggrin

it's Donington wink

and it's fantastic. My favourite circuit.

and the R400 looks awesome! Not driven one so cannot say for certain. A friend and I are talking of booking the standard Cat with BaT at Donington for later in the year - October IIRC.

You will have a total blast smile

Had a great day - thanks to Jonny & all at B-a-T, the R400 was quick & handled very well.

Had a small problem with the car in morning & we were given a 'normal' superlight whilst they fixed it. All in all run very professionally.

Planning on booking abother B-a-T day now...

Was the R400 yellow?

I as there in a Silver Grey CSL (dark grey rims) and saw the yellow car a few times

i was very surprised some of the other caterhams were not faster. An R400 and a superlight were the two cars really travelling that i saw.

Yes, all the B-a-T cars were black. We were in the quickest one (no.1).

There was 1 other R400 there (non B-a-T), which I think may have been yellow.

smile

Did you see the R34 stack it?

If he wasn't going any quicker than earlier on that morning then I fail to see how he could have stacked it at 40mph biggrin

BTW - yes I saw 2 CSL's there, in the same garage along with an R1 kit car thingie (that was really slow on track).

Did you bring a spare CSL just in case? biggrin

The superlight 'travelling' could have been us? - all the B-a-T superlights look the same including the R400, it's the numbers on the back that identify them.

We were also surprised that the 'proper race' caterhams weren't quicker. There were approx 3 of them that were properly quick, & the rest we easily had the measure of (yes, I know we had an extra 80 odd bhp) but even on corner speed etc. We had a good tussle with a black & line green race Caterham (Piranha 1 sticker on the back). Apart from that it was only the Radicals that were seriously quick, which you'd expect.

We lapped the white GT3 numerous times in each session.

The old Aston Martin was really nice, although looked a bit of a handful & at one point span in front of me at the old hairpin.

ah yes it was the private yellow R400 that i saw most. Cant tell the difference between all the BaT cars.

Yes there were by the end of the day 3 grey CSLs and one River Island decals CSL. Not all mine!

The GT3 guys were running pretty slow, i guess they were new but curtious after realising they were caught.

The guy in the R34 Skyline had no clue and should have taken tuition first thing as he was following any line he could think of but none of them even close to being right and one led him to go off at the OHP. Was going to have a word after my first session but missed him.

He was using the other half of our garage and quite honestly I don't think he knew much about what he was doing. His car was ill-prepared because it seemed a bit strange that he wouldn't stop the engine. When we suggested that even though we were all petrolheads and liked engines and had a tolerance for exhaust fumes it was a bit much being trapped in the garage with them and would he like to switch his engine off. Response was that if he did he would never get it started again. Compromised and parked outside after that smile. Next thing we knew was a half hour stoppage after which he eventually returned only to say that he had a leak from the oil cooler that was spraying on his tyre. That was his reason for going off but apparently it was a pre-existing problem confused. He left shortly after that.

That aside we had a great day and impressed by the on track manners. Seemed like a couple of the race Caterhams were engrossed in their own world on a couple of occasions biggrin and that lovely old Aston was reluctant to move over but hey, we had an open pitlane for the whole day bounce

Nobody take any pics?

I have a 600bhp R34 which sprays oil on the front tyre & won't start + I can't drive for toffee. I know, I'll take it to a track day at Donnington... laugh

Perhaps he should have left it at home & hired a superlight along with a days worth of tuition...

Re pics, there should be some on the B-a-T site soon, although they'll be samples. You can buy the originals if there are any decent ones of you.
