Hi All
Just a real quickquestion i may be going to trax this weekend and plan to take a session on track, however the only helmet i have is a full face helmet which is class b british standards from when i used to go to the kart track, will this be ok to get on track? or are there rules for track days?
Cheers
Ben

On this note anyone had success getting a decent helmet from a motor cycle shop? Looking to spend 150-200
Go on ebay - plenty of decent Shoei etc ones in that range last time I checked. With regards to helmet checks, they never do them at proper Track Days, let alone track time at car shows - they check nothing at all. Its a disaster waiting to happen at these events as everyone turns up to spectate and then, "What? You can track? Ere? Only £20? I'll have a go then, i've done this track on the Playstation!"
Last track time at a car show was at Brands, and 5 minutes into the first session an Evo 5 rolled at Paddock Hill...
I would stay well away and do a proper track day where you get much less of this!

Don' buy it before trying it on (so sod ebay)! To me it was more about good fit and comfort than the price. And I didn't pay any silly money (surely lots of people like to).
Absolutely! I've had cheapish helmets up to this point and they've never fitted properly (despite all being the same size). The first was slighty too big, the second crushes my cheeks so my face looks like a cats arse. I finally decided to treat myself to a decent one and go for comfort. Go to a bike shop and try on everything they have. Typically I tried everything and the only ones that seems to be the same shape as my heed was Arai and Dainesse. Smarted a bit in the wallet department, but at least I'm comfortable now! It does make you treat your helmet a LOT better also when you lay out £300+ on one!Edited by juansolo on Sunday 7th September 07:59

...i will look inot a new helmet...
...and you will see just how big and round your head really is! ( at least that is what struck me when I looked into my new helmet
)Off topic Ben but I just happened to look at your profile and noticed that your surname is Lansdowne, or at least the first bit is, any how, guess what?, so is mine! I am 43 and have only ever met one other family of Lansdowne's so hello and good on yer
Just for reference, I never said buy a cheap helmet, just buy on ebay as the decent models will normally be cheaper!
Also, despite not being as good as being there and trying on a helmet, if you can't get to a shop, measuring your head around the top of the ears will pretty much guarentee a perfect fit anyway!
