Castle Coombe 26.9.08 with BaT; Anyone going?

I was also at Castle Combe driving the same season that the unfortunate crash happened. I'm sorry for the loss of such a nice car but cannot help thinking that if you had not done as all others (bar the MG you were racing) on your season and slow down after the checkered flag then you would still have your car intact.

Oh..and welcome to PH. Nice first post. You'll make loads of friends here
I was also on that same session (one of the rental caterhams) - shame to see the off, glad you are ok though. That was definitely my fave car of the day (although close between your Z4M and the black Exige 240 that looked pretty tricked out and race spec!).
Was it just me, or did there seem to be lots of drivers lacking in mirrors that day????

With regards to the mirror thing, you are correct and I had complained earlier to the organisers about one individual in particular. I felt like a bit of rat but thought that if I had confronted the individual in person, things may have cut up rough and no one wants to see that sort of thing on a fun day out do they?

I know what you mean! Problem with Combe in particular is that it is so quick, if you get held up you can end up with a bit of a queue. I got held up and had a few quicker guys go by me and the person in front in the bends, but I don't fancy risking the the accidents to do that!
Hope the car gets back in former glory soon! I have been out with Earling (or Arling, never can remember which) in a Noble a few years back (was with David this time) - both seem to be good guys.

I was also out in the same session and sorry to see the damage to your car GTWayne, I think from what you've said you must have definitely missed seeing the chequered flag at the end of the session and perhaps that does indeed need to be addressed by the TDO. I am glad that the car will be back on the road soon though!
We too did have quite a fair bit of hassle being held up and had to keep backing off many times, but maybe that was partly down to the fact that we were there in a family saloon!
It was a shame though because it did somewhat spoil some of our time on track. If I was at all responsible for holding you guys up at any point, I do apologise; I did try my best to move out of the way safely whenever it was necessary.

Perfectly understandable in my opinion - these things happen. I fail to see how the organiser or circuit could, in any way, be held responsible for the incident that followed!

Commiserations Wayne and good luck getting the car back on track.
Superb day, great weather. Many thanks to the BAT team really enjoyed my first track experience. Also took some instruction from Erling (?) which was very well worth it. Makes a big difference knowing where the line should be and how late you can brake!

SIGH.......perhaps you could kindly point out to me exactly where in my post I've stated that the TDO or circuit could be responsible for either the "missed" chequered flag or for the incident that followed! I'll make it easy for you, I didn't, but for some reason, that is your deduction! In today's litigous society I can probably understand why you've immediately jumped to that conclusion, but that is not even remotely close to what I was trying to say. I have not once been critical of the TDO in my post and would add that I think it was a very well organised and enjoyable event. However, I do think that it is wise for any responsible company to consider if and how things may be improved, following an unfortunate incident, to try and prevent such an incident from occurring again - wouldn't you agree? And in the interests of showing that I have considered at least one possible solution, perhaps, you could consider a suggestion (constructively) that if at all possible, the chequered flag be waved from the newly built gantry at the start finish line, because it is in a very prominent position overlooking the track, as opposed to it being waved from the end of the pit wall, at track level, where its more likely to me "missed" by someone engaging in an overtaking manouvre.
As I said previously, I just hope gets Wayne his car back on the road soon, and starts enjoying it again, which is ultimately what its all about

easy tiger!
I wasn't suggesting you had said it was the organisers fault. My comments were in response to a couple of posts about the visibility of the chequered flag with reference to the incident that followed. there was an inference (intended or otherwise) that greater visibility could have prevented the accident. something I was keen to correct for the benefit of those who weren't there.
