Croft instruction day last weekend with imaginedoingthis.com
Discussion
Hi chaps,
I booked onto a track day at Croft last weekend, and really enjoyed it. It was the first time i'd driven croft, and thought it was a really well layed out track, especially considering it used to be an airfield.
I booked the day through a company called www.imaginedoingthis.com and recieved tutiton from a chap called Graeme Glew, who was great. It was really good to have instruction as i started out really slow, but ended up overtaking people by the end! Having someone to tell you where all the breaking points are and how to hit each apex was really beneficial, and now i feel i could go back to the track anytime and improve on the basics.
It was interesting to see how many seemingly 'experienced' people took the wrong lines around the corners, and if i'd been on my own i'd have just followed them. Grahame was a really good instructor and i would highly reccomend him. All in all i probably got about 30 laps in, but it's so addictive i could have stayed on track all night!
The car we used was provided by imaginedoingthis, and was the new Honda Civic Type R. I'd never driven one before, however i found it an easy car to learn in and it gripped round the corners really well.
I had 3 sessions, and paid £248 (including all the insurance etc) which i thought was good value considering i was hammering the s
t out of the car all day! Afterwards i got a de-briefing, and later got a report on how i could improve, and reitterating all the pointers that i'd been given throughout the day.
I enjoyed it so much that i've booked onto one at Snetterton (i've never driven it before) and another at Cadwell Park (i love this track but never had tutition on it)
Anyway, i just thought i'd share the good experience i had with you all, as every other topic on pistonheads these days seems to be doom and gloom.
I'm well and truly hooked and can't wait for the next one.
