Tracks with no noise restriction
Discussion
Donington run 1 unsilenced day per week which is usually a general test day but occasionally you'll get a track day (mainly with Goldtrack although we do a couple a year as well).
That's the only "properly" unsilenced track day in the UK - although some circuits are more lenient than others. Anglesey, Oulton Park, Cadwell, Brands Indy and Snetterton are all 105dB. Rockingham is 103dB.
Forget Brands GP, Goodwood, Combe, Bedford, Donington (quiet usage), Croft and Thruxton.

Longer than I thought!, 2005.
The circuit owner told us that they had a noise problem but the Mayor applied to the Government for the money to build a huge mud bank/sound barrier between circuit and village to overcome the issue, if only they approached things in the same way over here!

A few years ago I was told by a Brands Hatch local resident that the controversial section of the circuit at Stirlings was going to have a sound deadening fence erected but the land owner(s?) objected to this! She speculated they they liked the option of having the view onto the circuit!?
Ther is just no satisfying these NIMBY's

We've only got one coming up - Donington unrestricted noise on November 13th.

Has Combe changed? I went there last year, October, and it was 100db. I rang especially and checked that it wasn't just 100db static, what was the driveby? I was told 100 again, and had no trouble all day.
BaT's event this saturday says 100 static and 94 driveby; is this new?
I can pass static tests easily (mine is around 94 static) but can't even pass 98 driveby, let alone 94

Combe has been strict for ages.BaT's event this saturday says 100 static and 94 driveby; is this new?

even the racers need to be careful (i remeber seeing a ferrari challenge race a few yrs back where they had to fit exhaust bungs)
a load of people moved into a new estate over the back of the circuit and then c omplained about the noise - and the council backed the new residents not the cicruit thats been there for 50 yrs

Silverstone South (March 26th) is unsilenced and only £140 odd...
Which TDO? Linkage?Enjoy and see you there (I'm going in the GTR)

(Also, I'm afraid I can't make this one due to prior comittments. But I'd like to know how you found out about the unsilenced day so I can identify the next one which I can attend.)

It's pretty much as good as it gets I think, did the South last year and got a suggestion, passed from the sound guy via friend, that I back off a bit down the straight as was pretty much on the cusp of acceptable. There again tomorrow on the GP circuit and hoping to be ok, that reminds me though that I must sort my backup plan out today.

I too had a little noise issue which was sorted via a friendly word of advice. (I believe the sound man stands just near Abbey on the South Circuit.)

I find it more believeable that it's 105db drive by, as that's what it was when I booked and went via this company last year.

Not always, he's got a pickup truck now and drives around, then comes into the pits and shouts at you for being too loud.I too had a little noise issue which was sorted via a friendly word of advice. (I believe the sound man stands just near Abbey on the South Circuit.)
