Track Day.. Half days.. TDO's ?
Discussion
Since i know there are a couple of Track day operators hanging around here I thought i would ask a question. Can more of you make it possible to do half a track day? Some of us find it almost impossible to escape for a full day from work, and also I personally much prefer 2 or 3 hours on track to a full day.
I presume there are business reasons why more companies do not offer the option, does selling half a day to a few people mean that you end up with spare slots so to speak? am i alone in wanting this kind of thing?
Cheers,
Charlie

As Daniel says - we will take half day bookings but do not allow pre-booking - we only take them on the day. Ie we will never take up a full day booking for a half day booking. It's actually quite rare for us to do it - we don't advertise the fact and certainly don't want it to become commonplace. I actually don't think half day track days are a good idea for several reasons - not least of all because you don't want someone pitching up at 2pm that's not seen the circuit, done the sighting laps etc etc and getting thrown straight out with 30+ other cars who have been going round all morning already.

It would have to be a case of taking pot luck on the day or else what would we do with the rest of the day?
Organisers who own the circuit can do it because they don't have to fill the day.
If I've got the spaceand I know the chap then it's fine. I'd be a little wary of allowing a chap on at lunchtime if I didn't know him.

That seems totally fair enough to me - would you (and BaT) therefore be more likely to allow people (just turning up on the off-chance) to do half-day in the morning, then it's a level playing field of drivers? _Neal_ said:

Never drive after a heavy night with a good Blonde.
