Silverstone GP with Goldtrack on 17th Jan
Discussion
Chaps thinking about streatching the Evos legs, its been tucked up under the duvey all winter. The forecast says rain, with a max temp of 7c and visability poor. I know its only a forecast, but I cant afford to pancake my pride & joy. Can you tell me from experience what the track is like driving in the rain? Apart from the obvious, like stay off the curbs.
Is there lots of standing water?
Visability? etc
Would really like to come along, so any assistance would be greatefully appriciated before I book up.
Also if I do book up, is there any one from the London (Clapham) area venturing up and fancy a bit of a convoy or hoon up together?
Cheers

I did one with Gold Track last November and it was extremely wet! Amazingly, it was better than I expected and the water drains away rather quickly. If you don't get too close to the car in front and other drivers are sensible then you'll be fine, I didn't find visability that much of a problem. Is there lots of standing water?

If wet then do not drive the racing line as it is like ice - take the wet line into each corner. I had a first lap familiarisation (sorry for spelling) with an instructor which was free and probably saved me and my beloved Cerbera.
Si
Jeesh, just how slippery was it yesterday morning
Great day out, Open pit makes for a much more relaxed day, with people actually taking their time to dial into the track before going for it.
Sorry to the circuit owners for ploughing a 5m channel in their grass between
Brooklands and Luffield.
Dried out nicely in the PM though, and much fun was had, when Phatgixer 'eventually' span out of
my way at Becketts, as the pressure of the frog was too much for him to handle
RE: woodcote, that corner in yesterdays wet/greasey conditions needs about as much respect as
an axe weilding murderer, you never ever take it for granted in the wet there !!! (just ask Angus)

Well that was like skating on ice in the morning. My son was driving for the first time at Silverstone
So not only did I have to continually shout directions but had my heart in my mouth as we slipped and slided
round each corner. He didn't do to bad at all. As said ealry afternoon it dried out and we could really start
have a bit of fun.
First trackday this year after the engine blew up at Brands in December so now nicely run.

agreed - turned into a very good day.
survived the morning and the track was almost 100% dry after 2pm. Then had a really good time perfecting a better cornering technique - felt quicker anyway!! Car ran faultlessly, which is always a bonus.
