I decided to book this event with Easy Track late yesterday as a treat for my wifes uncle. He's watched racing at Goodwood since he was a 4 year old and remembers all the great racers at this classic English circuit. The plan was to take him in my R300 for a few laps, probably scare the beejeezus out of him(he's 62).

It now turns out he can't make it that weekend, oh well, lighter cars make for quicker times.

So, Goodwood questions.

1. Does Lord March allow track day users to use the covered paddock areas to keep open cars & drivers dry in between sessions?

2. Anyone else playing on this date?

3. Noise, 98dB & 10 car max, I assume this is rigidly enforced at Goodwood?

Thanks

Not quite so simple as a yes to Q1. Yes you can use the covered pit garages, but then you lose your place in the pit lane queue.

Q3 - yes.

Have fun - it's a fantastic circuit.

I'll be there coaching in a caterham acadamy car.

The noise is rigidly enforced. 98db static and then three (and the marshals use a handheld one as well) drive by meters around the lap that you need to be under 96db.

usual one strike and you have the opportunity to modify exhaust. 2nd noise 'breech' means end of play.

you wont be allowed out until you've passed the static test.

The marshals wil help as much as possible.

Have a fun day.

fantastic track - very, very fast once you get a few corners flowing but i did have an issue with "getting on" track as per my post on the attached topic link!
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

that however was my only experience and it is not to say it is like that everytime/every organiser.

have fun......as i said, great track biggrin

Might pop down for a watch if its nice weather. Loved it the 5 times I've driven it. Yet to do it in the Kit car frown Marshalls are firm but fair, but don't screw with the chief marshall - he doesn't take any crap wink

Might try and get on the end of the noise test while I'm there if I take the Indy... think its 94dB static but be interesting to see.

Nice to meet a few of the faces yesterday and what a lovely day it was too.

Thanks to Nathan's (Cat7Superlight) Dad & a few others for the push start at the beginning of the day when my chocolate K series starter motor decided to play up, much appreciated.
Hope the crashed M3s driver is OK, didn't hear anything of him following his off and the RX7 who lost it out of the chicane, that was a beautifully prepared car, driver OK and I guess that's the main thing, our toys are replaceable & repairable.

Bad way to end the day for me, took me all day to start getting the hang of/feel of the corners and overdid the last chicane, my own fault and learning all the time.It is possible I could blame the low sun.. I guess not!
Was a great day good chatting to people and making new friends, some of the guys were really on pace yesterday and thier experience really showed.

What a fantastic day (I was in the sooty ibiza). I've got quiet a few pics of the orange caterham with toy in the reg if its anyones?

Weather was nice, standard of driving was good, alot of people aware of quicker cars etc. The group I went with had a great time.

My favourite track to date.

The guy running the Astra vxr said it was running 330 bhp and had a slip-diff fitted.

The guy could drive which also helped!

Had to drive 700 miles up to Scotland today in the Ibiza (it has a hard life wink ), so will send the pics when I get back to London. The Ibiza was driven by me and my brother, so would be good if you had a video of us.
The astra is quick, but he has thrown a lot of money at it. Had a chat to him at brands a few months ago and had a look over the car, it is very impressive, but shows what can be done with a bit of money and a normal car. I'm aiming for mine to end up like that someday (albeit diesel).
