Tyres for trackdays

Hi All,

Booked myself for the Brands Hatch for Friday the 13th Feb. I normally drift in my 200sx so have loads of fairlyok tyres, with low tread.

Or is it best to run with brand new tyres? Just need a bit of advise really. So hope the car survives lol

Really depends on the weather mate - if it's wet, then I'd go for the full tread tyres. If its bone dry, the worn tyres will be fine, as long as they have a couple of mm left in them. New tyres with thick tread blocks aren't best for track use in the dry, and vice versa in the wet..... Take both sets if rain is a possibility, and so you can drive home on the new tyres, they'll fit in a 200sx no problemo.

Assuming dry - just remember to budget for having enough tread to be legal on the way home + up to around 1.5mm of potential wear for a day. 3mm or less might be marginal.
