What do you guys think..?

Is it worth getting a front (and rear) strut brace for my 1989 E30 325i track car? It is lowered 40mm on Bilsteins, with Eibach springs and on 205/50 888's. Fully stripped out.

Also if they are worthwhile, what about one from Ebay for £30? Or do you have to get a proper one for about £150?

cheers

You can get some major cracks around the fuse box, expansion tank area if not braced for the front and driving the car hard.

That is from an E30 M3 POV but it is probably even more important for lesser versions.

Meh. If your chassis is flexing enough to need it then you've got bigger problems. However they do seem remarkably popular. Mine does't have either front or rear and i've never driven it and thought "blimey, these suspension turrets are shifting all over the place; best get a strut brace".

People like fitting the lower X brace from the cabrio models on the E36, not sure if there's one for the E30

You can get a proper one for about £45. Ultra Racing brand that you can buy from Neil at Automac http://www.automac.co.uk/home

They are 'proper' i.e. fixed bars, no hinges or adjustment.

Strut gussets from the E30 convertible model may be worth looking at, they are factory weld in parts that tie the inner wing to the suspension turret.

you would get a lot more from a set of uprated anti roll bars such as H & R or eibach
