My insurance renewal is coming up and ideally I would like to get an all inclusive policy that includes, track days, the Nurburgring, and day to day driving.

Anyone have such a policy or know of companies that offer such products?

HIC include track day insurance and limited european cover. They're part of the Adiran Flux group and if you can provide previous track day experience they'll halve your track day claim excess.

Mine is due first week March and I will be going with Manning UK for 2nd year, this covers track days although the track day extension excess has gone up to 10% of market value of the car or on an agreed valuation of the car subject to minimum £1500.

Also try Richard Eggar - they can include TD's as well.

Although I doubt you'll get many companies wanting to take on the 'Ring - they will usually specifically exclude it.

Steve, I use Keith Michaels Insurance, thru a guy called Christian Wheatley.

They do Track Day cover and Ring cover either as part of your policy or as cheap add ons when you want it. Also a very very good broker. I've been with them for 3 years, and they insured everything on my modded Evo, cheaply.

Is that for track days at the ring or for TF days?

Ideally full cover. 1st cover as a minimum.

Just spoken to him. They specialise in cover for modded jap cars, and offer cover for the CAR only whilst on track (i.e. NOT 3rd party cover) at around £70/trip (following referral to the underwriters). This is fine if you have an expensive car you want to take it on track, but does not cover the cost of crippling someone following an accident on your split coolant/oil, etc.

Hopefully this clears up what they can offer - he's already had about 5 calls today on the subject!

As I understand it you can only get 1st party cover for trackdays.

Don't Richard Egger require you to have a race licence?

Pretty standard from what I found when I was looking.

Not if it's a road car that is doing occasional trackdays. It might well be different if its a race/rally car.

The issue with TF days at the 'ring is that under German law it is a public road, and therefore you are legally required to have 3rd party insurance as a minimum. The question is if your road policy specifically excludes the 'ring for all cover, or if the 3rd party cover still applies. Typically they will exclude first party cover, unless offered as above.

always my understanding due to some EU directive.... However, it would appear that the ombudsman is currently about to rule on this. It may be whether he is rulling on a 1st party claim though, which I have no interest in the outcome of, as specific 1st party cover is already available at a small premium on a per day basis.

I've just changed to Richard Egger and they were brilliant. I've got two cars (Porsche and BMW) and previously use Admiral but wanted to get trackday cover too. In short, RE have saved me £200 a year on the basic road cost for the two cars plus included 4 trackdays per year at no extra cost and any additional trackdays at £100 per day. I was much impressed.

Aaah cool, I might have to give them a call later then. Cheers
