Can anyone advise on the state of Woodbridge's track, car is a Radical so very low ground clearance and stiff set up. Looking for a weekend track day, soon, preferably not Snett, reasonable sound limit and fairly close to Essex. Not leaving myself many options.

Cheers

Nick

Nic I've done several track days at Woodbridge and the surfavce is quite abrasive so tyres that you don't mind trashing are a good idea. As far as smoothness goes there are several bumpy sections but I have seen loads of caterhams/lotus 7 style cars which are low to the ground and they seem to be ok. My own car is a Honda civic so no clearance problems for me - I might do a trackday at Woodbridge at the end of March - if the cars sorted by then! Hope thats of some help.

Thanks Mark. I'm not worried about the tyres getting thrashed, just about the bumps. Ground clearance is only 40mm so quite a bit lower than a Caterham. Javelin have said they get Radical's and Westfield XTR2's up there every so often and they come back so can't be too bad. Apparently the place to watch for is through a gate if that makes sense, not been on tracks with a gate in before!! I'm sure it all makes sense when you get there.

I was looking at the March date and then realised I can't get there so it would have to be the April date. Maybe see you up there, come and say hello if you are there, yellow Radical SR4.

Cheers

When you go to Woodbridge, watch out for the landing lights off of the racing line in a couple of places, they stick up just enough to catch the sump on a Caterham which has 65mm clearance. Last October saw 2 Caterham type cars go home early with damaged sumps.
But otherwise, it is a great track layout and one of my favourites. You will get some stone chip damage there.

Hi Nick are you going on this track day ?

I'm booked to go on the 4th April, it will be the first outing in my SR4 to get used to it, before the ROC trackday.

Last time I went one of the landing lights dented one of my rims and the same happened to a DAX busa Turbo with lovely Image rims on it. There was also something on the track which put 3 axe like chops through the floor in my kit car and took out the sump on a BEC killing his engine. My passenger nearly soiled his pants as if it had come through he would have lost his manhood!

Stone chips are plentiful so where a full face helmet with a visor if you have no screen.

The 'bump' they are talking about is an uneven join in 2 pieces of concrete. By gate they mean cones, which direct you through the middle of the join as that is the least/lowest bumpy bit.

If you do go take it easy for a few laps and you will find the bits you need to avoid.

I have been lots of time and it is a good fast layout but stone chips p1ss me off now

I've not made my mind up yet and the post one up doesn't make me leap for the cheque book. On the other hand I'm just after a day out with plenty of time in the car to get used to it. If I don't book up I may come along if you want an extra pair of hands for anything as it fits in well with some friends just round the corner - can easily leave the wife wagging the chin without being noticed for a couple of hours.

I guess you got your trailer sorted out if you are booked in there.

Having never driven the SR4 im just going along to this as a cheapish way to to get to know it before I start spending more money on proper circuits. I have a trailer coming this weekend.
