brakes silverstone???
Discussion
Thanks for reply's. I have a wilwood 4 pot set up ready to bolt on, found out the hoses are not long enough! Goodridge hoses are based at silverstone & can sort me out with the correct fittings i need. They were very helpfull. Just thought it worth mentioning that there is an on site hose service
had a good day learning the circuit in the CSL (black wheels)and managed early on to get a nice clean run.
weather was superb and generally a good day but quite a few slow cars which ended up grouping together but no big deal.
had a great run with a blue e36 m3 towards the end and had trouble getting away from him as my back tyres wear shot and was oversteering like a bugger - but good fun

First time at Silverstone and enjoyed it. Some fantastic cars out there today, just a pity I couldn't sit behind them for long. I'm guessing Hangar straight is the quickest part ? What top speed do you reckon the 997RS's are getting down there ?
Saw the Tuscan had an off at one of the slow chicanes. Didn't slow you down though.

Well, my non-RS 996 GT3 (which is still on factory road suspension settings and standard road tyres) peaked out at 146 indicated (remembering that all speedometers over-read, this is probably not much over 140) as far as I noticed. A 997RS with track geo and sticky tyres will carry more speed on to the straight and can carry far more speed around the bend at the end (hence brake later), so about 150 I would guess.AndrewO said:

Yea had a few moments, either running wide on T1 and that slow one I just went too deep in on the brakes and the back end came around on turn in. All part of the practice though. Need 888 tyres next time I think. The celica looked to be going well, was it a 205 model?Saw the Tuscan had an off at one of the slow chicanes. Didn't slow you down though.

As for speed down hangar straight, my speedo goes funny and jumps back and fourth once it hits 140 so I would reckon somewhere around there, deffo 125 by the bridge though.

ST202 - 2litre front wheel drive, about 180bhp (stripped out). Could have done with a turbo down the straights though. recently had the geometry done with -2 neg camber all round and 4mm toe-out on the front and that's made a big difference. I have a problem with the nearside rear locking up when braking hard so thats the next thing to fix.Wh00sher said:
pleased your brakes held up (I came and spoke to you at lunchtime). Driving my Blue Golf which was down on power (fuel pump issue) but still had a great time.
I had exactly the same issue, fine for the 1st 2 outings then wouldn't rev past 6000rpm, sorry for my lack of communication to you, trying to sort it! decided to call it a day, but was with 2 friends, and got to drive a clio 197 & vx220 turbo, so not a totally disaster!!!
