Oulton Park Sat 21st March - looking for a place
Discussion
Just got back. It was a good day, busy really busy. Unfortunately there was a certain contingent that had a complete lack of courtesy and we came close to a car on car incident due to the complete lack of spatial awareness and etiquette of one individual, but that was sorted after a word.
This afternoon was better as it quietened down a bit. Got through all day without needing to change the pads which promptly crapped out on the way home. Next day out the car will be on a trailer.
Weather was not what was forecast though

popped along for a bit to spectate and there was some good machinery out there! black noble was very swift but highlight for me was seeing that white GTR. Ive been to oulton to watch the GT class a few times but watching that nissan climb up the hill from knickerbrook was something else - ive not seen acceleration like that before!
im not sure who's it is but there is a track prepped blue alfa 156 which sounds GLORIOUS! it was there when i did a day last feb and was there again y'day - whoever the driver is does a delicious heel n toe into lodge time after time...

We were there as well - first time at Oulton and first event with Focused.
Anyway, we had a great day, though the girlfriend was hoping for it to be sunnier - think she was rather cold hanging round in the paddock in between passenger rides.
It did seem busy, especially at the morning briefing, but on track i didn't find it as bad as expected. As others have said it got a lot better as the day wore on and traffic thinned out. General standard of driving seemed to be pretty good, although as with all events there were one or two individuals that could have been a bit more courteous. I was definitley inpressed at the spread of cars there - from the GTR to the less obvious but rapid blue rear-engined mini.
We were in the 2 Saab 9000's. The silver blue one was ours and is very much on a tight budget, owned by 3 of us. It was the first event for the green one and it has some more serious kit attached to it, but unfortunately a small gearbox oil leak ended with a broken box. Though not before Paul (the owner) got a couple more sessions in it - even though he only really had third gear.
So great day, and a fine start to our season.

The GTR was quick wasn't it you certainly knew when it was coming up behind you and then just let it past. The running lights were bright in the rear view.im not sure who's it is but there is a track prepped blue alfa 156 which sounds GLORIOUS! it was there when i did a day last feb and was there again y'day - whoever the driver is does a delicious heel n toe into lodge time after time...

I will pass on your regards to the owner of the blue 156, he's another local.
