I'm off to Germany and want to "do" the ring
Discussion
I'm scheduled to be in Germany for the last weekend in July, and want to do a few public laps of the Nurburgring while I'm there.
It'll be the first time for me, and I'd be interested if anyone could confirm, or know's where I can confirm, that public days are running that weekend.
Any tips on booking a B&B local to that area for that weekend?
Any tips on buying tickets/passes for laps that weekend?

Nice link Mac, thank you for that.
Interested in the weekend before I had planned - Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th. It list those days as public driving days from 8am to half seven at night, however has in itallics "First Day of Multiday Event". Does that imply that I'd need to pay for the whole day, or would the normal pricing still apply? I'd imagine that that would be super busy too?
Wouldn't want to trek all that distance, and be confronted with a closed Kiosk, and have to resort to watching and drinking (well, the latter wouldn't be all bad

)Nah, I think that "first part of a multi-day event" is just the way they put their calendar together. You should just be able to rock up at any point in the day, buy a ticket and go for a lap (assuming the track isn't closed due to an accident for an hour or so, which does happen regularly).
I much prefer evening sessions, it's quieter and apart from the mentalist locals that go their after work you don't see many people on track, especially Brits. If you have the flexibility in your calendar I'd aim for 21st-23rd July evening sessions TBH.

Ian, I think all your prices are €1 too expensive
Accommodation? Bergstube is in Nurburg, email Martin for availability. I stayed at the Blaue Ecke in Adenau for the past few years, Michaela will take great care of you.
The tickets have been replaced with the 'Ring Card' this is plastic credit card size card that you buy from the ticket office. It's an Oyster style card you press against the ticket barrier and from the Summer can be topped up with credit to buy goods and services at the Nordschleife cafe and can be used in shops and bars etc at NuroDisney.
The ticket office can be busy, tickets can also be purchased at the ED petrol station opposite the Dottinger Hohe straight on the (B258 I think) Nurburg>Dottingen road. Prices are the same if paying cash however they charge for credit cards.
