I have AD08 on the rear of my Cerb, but I can't find any for the front in 235/40/17, I've been looking for ages. What would be a good tyre to match with them for the front?

(There are some on eBay at the moment, but there's an error in the listing)

The AD08 has been replaced by the AD08R. It's a slightly softer compound but if you can get them in your size should be fine to mix.

I'd be happy with either, but there is no stock and no production date for 235/40/17.

In that case it looks like you will have to consider replacing all 4 with something like Yoko 048's or Toyo 888's.

Thank you.

Is that because you rate them as a trackday tyre, or because they have similar characteristics as AD08?

Can I ask how fast you've driven in these tyres?

On mine, they shake the car to pieces over 130mph..

Great when new, but VERY quickly stop being roundfrown

I've never had an issue with my RSRs, they're known to delaminate slightly but it's never caused me problems. Even in the wet when they're warm.
Ive known ad08s that haven't lasted long at all compared.

I use the Federals on my Chimaera Convertible Cerbera, and they are excellent on the track and on the road. I would imagine the grip's similar to the AD08s. To me they seem to grip very like the R888, just more progressive on the limit in a corner.

PS Phazed has a pair on his track day Chimaera and puts 360+ bhp through them. I think he has them on the front with R888s on the back, but I have a 50% chance of being wrong.

PM him if you want his opinion - I think he is running them on 5 stud RL7s and knowing him, if they are the fronts they will be 17s and may well be that size.

Both. I rate them as a trackday tyre and when I ran them on my car with the AD08's on the rear for a short period I was pleasantly surprised on the similar characteristics.

Hope that helps.

I hated the RSR's on the Noble, bought them due to internet raving, and found them not much grippier than the Bridgestone SO2's on my other wheels. Wish I'd have spent the extra on 888's at the time. Also they fell to bits every trackday! Ruined my trip to the 'ring & Spa (along with brake vibration!)
Swapped them when they still had 50% tread left for Michelin PS Cups and they're on a completely different level! On my 2nd set of these now.

I believe I know the answer to this but I just want to check do the AD08R tyres have 8mm or 5mm tread when new?

AD08 are 8mm, I presume AD08R are as well, as it is only meant to be a minor compound change.

Cool, this is what I am lead to believe as well, once my current tyres need replacing I plan on fitting a set of these.

AD08R's definately have around 8mm of tread, I've been running them on my Atom and prior to that AD08's. The R's compound is supposedly slightly improved for rain/wet conditions, tread wise both versions look exactly the same. I use these tyres on the road and for airfield hooning, for "proper" track days I run AO48's. I think AD08(R)'s are great, offer a good amount of grip and last relatively well whilst not breaking the bank, they also brake traction progressively. Don't normally comment on tyres as the Atom is light and behaves somewhat "uniquely," but in this case I can confirm you are right and AD08(R)'s come with a proper 8mm of tread (unlike AO48's frown)

Yes, but.....

8 mm for a road tyre that will cope with some track abuse is excellent, but

An out and out soft compound track tyre with tread will overheat if the tread block moves too much. We all watch F1 - it would be like trying to do a dry race on wets. As we rarely drive for more than 15 minutes on track, and tend to use fairly hard compounds, we get away with our compromise tyres.

FWIW I love my Federal 595 RS-Rs on my one tonne TVR, both on the road and the track. As far as I remember they come with at least 6mm of tread. Does anyone know what the tread depth is?

Sorry if this is a repeat but you can get the AD08R at camskill in 235/40/17 at £164.95 - http://tinyurl.com/ptcdwxn and they're in stock.

Thanks, I will call them again. Last time I ordered from them online while their site said 'In Stock' they sent me an email a couple of days later apologising. It can be quite inconvenient to lose the use of £350 for a week/ten days while the refund is being processed.

Demon Tweeks actually say 'In Stock' rather than Camskill 'Stock Available for Dispatch in 2/3 Working Days'

I'll try both, but I'm not hopeful.
