The missus kindly got me a driving experience in a McLaren MP4-12C for my birthday, the two closest locations I can choose are either Longcross Proving Ground near Chertsey in Surrey, or Prestwold Driving Centre in Loughborough.

Anyone have experiences with both and which would be best for a few laps in the 12C?

Thanks.

I did a ferrari experience at prestwold a few years ago, very mickey mouse, very high tyre wall all the way around, having said that I did get to a good speed in the 360, no experience of Longross though.

cheers.....Tony..

I think Longcross has a rubbish speed limit through the tree section?

I wouldn't say that at all. About 1.8 miles in track length, wide and plenty of run off most of the way round. Make sure you pay a few quid extra for the sighting laps in the Skoda or else you will spend the first two laps of your experience just trying to remember the track.

If you are travelling a reasonable distance then worth making it worthwhile by booking a few laps in other cars, too.

The diner is ok.

Go on YouTube and put Everyman racing prestwold hall in and you can see the track when ppl have had the incar video of there drives and you can choose from there. I have done prestwold hall in the lambo it was a nice track but I prefer pro drive in kennel worth if you have it as an option.
Btw the mp4 is a awsome car. I did it last year.

Don't think the Prodrive track at Kenilworth operates as a track day venue any more, Jaguarbhave bought it's a test track.

For me it would be Longcross, I drove the Nissan GTR and Lambo Gallardo and had a passenger lap in a Radical SR3 a few years back, as far as I know only one company use Longcross and I would use them every time.

Thanks for all the advice, I'll give Longcross a go I think. Whatever happens I'll be in a McLaren so won't be too bad!

I used to sprint at long cross. It's a fantastic track but very complicated. Watch in car footage, take sighting laps etc to make the most of it.

We're based not far from Longcross. They don't have a speed limit on any of the local public roads around here!!!
