Anyone have any recommendations for something similar(ish)? Quite fancy maybe a Caterham/Westfield full-day/half-day, or something similar where you are pushed and encouraged to 'drive'.

Why not do Palmersport again and compare your lap times to see where you've improved? I'm sure that you'll enjoy it even more the second time as you'll be familiar with the circuits and the cars.

Jack Blag - Already looking at doing it again.

blueg33 - Caterham + trailer = possibility! Never had any interest in these until i drove them - I was looking forward to driving the BMW M4 the most... at the end of the event the M4 was my least fave (bar the LandRover - boring) and the Caterham's were the most fun. Atom's (in the rain) were an event too smile

You could look at hiring a BookaTrack Caterham to use on a trackday, that would probably land at a similar cost and Jonny (owner of BaT) is a regular on here.

You are unlikely to find any other driving experience or venue that has the chance to push limits with impunity in the way that Palmers does though. If you go off at a proper circuit you are much more likely to hit something which hurts/costs so it is a different kind of event.

Thanks Steve. Just looked at the BookaTrack site... I live in Nottinghamshire so the Donnington Evening Session in an R300 could be a possibility.

Bookatrack is the way forward here. Pricey once you've paid for the track day plus car hire but do a full day open pit and nothing can touch it for value for money. A lot of track time there in a very capable car.

In terms of driving experience days, there's not really anywhere to go after Palmersport - either keep going, or graduate to track days or racing! I thoroughly recommend a return visit to Palmersport, you'll get dialled into the cars much quicker and be able to spend more time working on your driving than being overwhelmed. I did it three years in a row, and got more out of it each time. I would have kept going, too, it certainly wasn't wearing thin but I bought a track car for more or less the same cost as another PS visit with the aim of getting cheaper seat time.

From what you're saying, I think one of the BaT Caterhams would be a great transition into track days. Very professional by all accounts, and a great experience. If you enjoy that, time to get browsing the classifieds wink

Destination Nurburgring - private track day at the Ring, hire a car if you don't want to risk your own. Would work out about GBP2,000 for two days.

Mithril Racing used to let you drive classic cars around Goodwood for a price, not sure if it still exists.

Ice driving in (Norway?)

Rally experience day

Not much comes close to Palmersport though.

It certainly seems the 'benchmark'. Great package - I can't imagine having a better day of driving cars... must do it again smile

Only crap bit was the Landrover = yawn.

Try a bespoke PalmerSport evening event. Tell them what you want to drive and ask for a price.

Porkie - have you got yourself onto the F3000 leaderboard yet?

Silverstone always used to do a similar thing to Palmersport, but it never seemed to be pushed.

The other name that crops up on these threads is Topcats racing days - similar to Palmersport.

Caterham aslo do a hirecar on track day for about £500, but I dont what sort of experience that is.
