Licence checks since removal of counterpart

I've got a track evening booked at Snetterton in a couple of weeks through Javelin. It'll be my first time back on track in 2 years, hence I wondered how licence checks are now done since the law on the counterpart changed.

Do I just generate a code online, as I would if I was hiring a car, or do I still need to present the old paper part?

What are other people's experience?

Get a code you can either print or just save and is valid for 21 days for whoever you give it to, to check your licence details.

In my experience of about 20 track days with Javelin, they have never asked for more than the plastic card. And they even let an Aston Martin driver out on track without that, the last time I was at Snetterton.

However, the collective advice is very good, and as I am doing a non-Javelin day at Castle Coombe later this month, I will do as you suggest.

OP, if you are in any doubt, call the Javelin office and ask them. Number's top left on their website.

I would have thought just the card would be fine?

I remember a good few years ago I forgot my licence with I think focused events..,
He just replied with, we will know within 5 mins of driving if you have a licence or not

We don't check the licences at Snetterton, that's done by the circuit staff so presumably if she was 16 then she must have had an MSA race licence to use instead as nobody would be permitted on track without any sort of licence to indicate driving competence.

You only need the photo card to take part in a trackday now so there is no need to 'share' your licence unless you don't have access to that card i.e. you've lost it, sent it off. It's also probably only useful to verify your licence before the event as there is rarely any computer access at signing on so it's usually more practical to check over the phone on the day itself.

The only reason you needed the counterpart before was because the licence was in two parts so legally you needed to present both for it to be valid but all of the information relevant to a trackday is on the photo card. As far as I'm aware the only reason for keeping the paper counterpart now is if you plan on going across the channel and hiring a vehicle as the UK is way ahead of the rest of europe with this online licence so companies may still insist in a physical copy until they catch up with it.

Quite right re the 16 year old - she was, I believe, Jamie Chadwick, GT4 class winner in the British GT series this season. She was stunningly quick on the odd occasion she came out on track.
