Anyone else here doing this one?
Only my second track day with my own car, but very much looking forward to stretching the M3's legs on a circuit again (especially since i've replaced the chocolate brake pads with something capable of repeatedly stopping it's 1.8tonne bulk).
Hoping for a dry day and a few friendly faces!

Good to meet some of you folks at Abingdon.
Some nice toys there! Bloke with his bargain basement MX5 was a good laugh too!
Still finding my feet with my Caterham R400. 2nd track day in it since I got it a month and a half ago. Its still on road tyres with the backs the same width as the fronts (dont ask.. it was like it when I got it) so it can be a little slippery from time to time.
Got some footage from my last run. https://youtu.be/Pg5TcIGzEKo

Yes was amusing in the rain
Dried out quickly though I guess the tarmac was still hot from the sun.
That onboard video is a good reminder that the Caterham is quite the precision tool
The photographer seemed to have cleared off by lunch, but guess they will have captured most of the field by then. Pics are meant to be appearing here any day now:

Yeah the rain helped me to my first spin
on very worn r888. Glad I brought a spare set of wheels though with some pilot sport 3's on so I could enjoy the rest of the day with some grip.
Cateram video is great good to see the difference in speed in and out of corners compared to my little 205

I was there until the end just hid from the rain before lunch. Also good excuse to beat the queues at the burger van lol
Photos will be all sorted and online towards the end of tomorrow.

Hi Tel,
Thank you for the kind words
Set for my Caterham video was as follows:-
Camera: Garmin Virb Elite (if you shop around you can get them for about £160). Ive owned a GoPro Hero 3 Black and I found it awkward to use compared to the Virb Elite. The Virb Elite is MUCH simpler to use and I personally got better footage from it as a result. Its got a screen on the back so you can see what its pointing at, a huge sliding switch on one side to start / stop recording (easy to operate with driving gloves too) and its cheaper than a GoPro.
Software 1: Garmin Virb Edit. This is only used to export the GPX file. The software itself is crap. (Free)
Software 2: Dashware. I import the video and GPX file into this program and then drop the gauges on top. I then export this video. (Free)
Software 3: Cyberlink Powerdirector. This is used to add on the titles, remove unwanted footage and the magnifying glass comes from here too.
Once you've done one video and saved it as a template in Dashware, all the other videos don't take too long to do up to that point. Unless you need to add titles mid way through the video / effects like the magnifying glass etc, then there isnt much point in going anyfuther than just using Garmin Virb Edit and then Dashware.
Hope this helps!
