My OH has a big birthday coming up and I know he's interested in experiencing a rallycross car. I've had a look online but most of the links are rally rather than rallycross cars. I found the Suzuki Swift page but it doesn't seem as if it's still live, at least I couldn't sign up for a mailing list.
Does anybody know if it's possible to book a day where you are able to turn up and drive a rallycross spec car?

I've not heard of any, but you might want to contact Lydden Hill (http://www.lyddenhill.co.uk/) and see if they've know of any.

Thanks for responding. I will contact Lydden Hill but it's a heck of a drive from Leeds to get there. I emailed Croft today, our nearest major track, they came back to me within 15 minutes but said they don't do it there and they aren't aware of anyone who does it. I might also try contacting the Suzuki Swift website too.

Closest I could find was at Oulton Park.

It is not rallycross, but there are several places in Yorkshire that do rally days.

Thanks guys, it really must be rallycross rather than rally though. He's already done at least one rally day, and every time we watch rallycross he mentions how much he wants to try it.

What bit of the "experience" is critical?

A rallycross spec car is not a great deal different to a rally or racing car.

Racing schools are rarely involve any car on car racing.

Rallycross is a mix of disciplines that are not too easy to replicate, you can do a rally experience for or a racing experience but not the two melded into one.

If you are wanting a bonafide taster of rallycross action then I'd say renting a Suzuki switft for a rallycross meeting is the best option, budget permitting. Give them a call to see if they can help or suggest anywhere that might.

Maybe take a trip to a rallycross meeting and talk to some of the competitors and teams to see if they are aware of anything that might fit the bill in terms of "experience" of having a go in a real live event experience.

There's a meeting at Croft this weekend I think.
