It would be a cool idea to make a touring car-style track car, and was wondering what car would be best for doing this?

Volvo 850 T5
BMW E36
Alfa 155
Ford Mondeo MK1/2
Nissan Primea GT

All the rest were a bit rubbish, and I'm a Peugeot fan but I doubt a 405/406 would make a good track car.

the days of supertouring are certainly a good place to start, the base cars used will be peanuts now. Ideally would need to be RWD with a decent engine to start off with, although if you want to keep it strictly to formula a high revving 2 litre engine would be good.

From the current season best choice would probably be a BMW 1 series, although can probably pick up a focus ST170 for cheap, maybe a seat Leon or something.

I never really considered the 1 series, but that is a fantastic idea!

This must be about the tenth 'what car' thread you've started this month.

That's quite likely, yes.

Just buy an ex Clio cup racer and be done with it. That would surely be the cheapest way.
