Rockingham Track Day High 108 Db limit 8th November £145
Discussion
I'll be there with McSam in his (my old) E36 328i
Looking forward as it'll be my first time at Rockingham, and the first time I've driven that car since I sold it to him 18 months ago!

High noise limit, you say? That's a relief, since it tested 80.1dB at Bedford this month
Time to pull the cats out?

It wasn't a noisy day when I booked it! I see it's changed in the last few days!
Likewise, although I had an email a week or so again saying it had changed to a noise day.HustleRussell said:

Agree went in a drift style mx5 last march when my exocet wasn't finished not wet but damp conditions the banking is pretty grippy apart from the white lines don't touch them the infield is so slippery me and another 3 mx5 spent hours going sideways on every corner great fun.

Excuse the sound of my gearbox...
I once accidently had about 60 degrees of opposite lock at turn 1 on the banking in an R300 due to an upshift from 4th to 5th that despite my best efforts wasn't quite subtle enough
The circuit is at least consistently gripless all around in the wet.
In the dry it doesn't seem any difference to any other tarmac...
Wet or dry I'm jealous of you folks, I haven't been on track since Rockingham last March when my profile pic was taken

So...thoughts on yesterday.
Was it 9 or 10 red flags? Bit much really. Me and Sam were sharing the E36 so were limited on track time as it was. On a more positive note, people were at least checking their mirrors and being courteous about letting faster cars through.
Starting your Lambo and driving it round the paddock in the middle of the remembrance silence though? I respect that everyone has different views, but maybe you should think about doing that too.

I wasn't aware that it was the silence minute at that time - I was heading onto the track where other cars were assembling and moving. Maybe at the safety briefing they should of said that they were observing the silence at the track? Was not intentional at all. Was it 9 or 10 red flags? Bit much really. Not a particularly good track day. Particularly down to the tarmac being the type that doesn't grip in the wet. Maybe it was the cheaper spec that they ordered when building the track. In a British climate that tarmac doesn't cut it with regular damp conditions. Such a wasted opportunity on what could be such a good track. Much better tracks out there with proper tarmac - wont be returning.

I don’t know where the idea of ‘cheap tarmac’ came from, the tarmac used was the correct spec for the American oval circuit series that the track concept was meant to attract. I don’t think it makes a waste of the circuit at all- it’s all part of the challenge.
