Hi,

I've done a number of days at Bedford in my car and was going to book Cadwell at the end of the month.

Is Cadwell worth the much further journey for me? I live 30 minutes from Bedford.

Thanks
Keith

Yes, its like a mini 'Ring' so if you have a smaller car you may enjoy it better as its quite tight in lots of places with minimal run off areas.

OMG!
Bedford has some great corners and run off, but it's flat and a little uninspiring. Great place to practice though as the corners are varied and well thought out (Dr JP maybe?) Cadwell otoh is just heaven. Though it will bite harder if you get it wrong. I live south of Bedford, but will happily venture to the wasted north occasionally for Cadwell. Awesome.

Cadwell is spectacular, Oulton is pretty good too for some variety, but Cadwell is by far my favourite UK track.

It's a Renault Clio, however, the lack of run off is one of my concerns as I'm prone to this kind of mistake

There are 4 places at Cadwell where you need to beware, instruction is the key & you may need to have a good talking to yourself on these corners.

Can't really compare the two, one is a sanitised flat & not real race track loads of run off play area for novices, the other is a gem, simply one of the best tracks in the UK.

Blyton and Cadwell are my local tracks and I honestly can't decide which is my favourite.

I know that's probably shocking to most as Blyton is a close relative to Bedford (I guess) but at Blyton I really feel like I can maximise myself and play with the car a lot more without it feeling reckless.

At Cadwell, the circuit is fantastic but it still scares me after half a dozen or so visits and I know I'm driving nowhere near at my best around it.

It's well worth the drive though, at least experience it once even if you're driving at 7/10ths for a day smile

Blyton is also local to me & for a cheap TD it is a good fun track to do.

Yes, it is flat, yes there is plenty of run-off, but it is a good technical track, with lots to keep you interested.

My favourite UK circuit.
You may never be happy at Bedford again after you've been to Cadwell..

Get some instruction & you'll be amazed how fast it is - great circuit for a Clio as well IMO.

The only part of track at Cadwell that you'll get away with that kind of mistake is coppice, and that's only because they cut down a big tree a few years back. smile

Just be careful if it is wet and you venture out on track. The yump over the top of the mountain is not in a straight line, so can unsettle the car sufficiently to leave the track. Just lift slightly and all will be well.

It is by far my favourite track, and I have 315bhp through the rear wheels. As said above, it is a really engaging track. When I first went there I took Coppice (left hander at the end of the bottom straight) at 75 in 3rd. Now it's 105 in 4th. There's some real "throw it in and hang on" corners, huge braking points, but 15 corners in 2.1 miles make it a perfect track for smaller lower powered cars, as it's all about carrying speed through the corners.

Power is almost irrelevant, which is why I couldn't lose this MX5.......

You'll have to google or YouTube search it, because I cannot get a link on the iPad, but it also shows you how lovely the circuit is..

Cadwell every time: It's a glorious circuit with a bit of everything. I remember taking the E28 M5 there on a BMWCC day and taking a carful of bikers round. Going round coppice flat(ish!) to much cheering and whooping encouragement from passengers. Happy days smile Also, having a passenger ride myself in a gorgeous white M1.

I've booked the day off, just going to keep an eye on the weather and book it late. Heard that wet days there aren't best way to start!

Rather eventful day, lots of red flags including a pit lane fire.

But great fun when I could actually get out
