Bedford Incident - BAC Mono
Discussion
Just a quick PSA for fellow drivers: had an unfortunate incident at Bedford recently involving a certain purple BAC Mono (you’ll know the one if you've seen it — very flashy, very purple, very… resale-value conscious).
During a recent track day at Bedford Autodrome, I was involved in an incident where this individual felt it appropriate to dive bomb me into a corner — textbook late lunge, zero awareness. The result? Damage to both our cars. Two independent witnesses confirmed what I already knew: the move was entirely on him.
Sadly, responsibility wasn’t something he brought with him to the circuit. No apology, no accountability, just lots of concern about the “re-sale value” of his Mono. This isn't a witch hunt — just a heads-up. If you see a purple Mono being unloaded, maybe give it a bit more room than usual. Expensive paint doesn’t make you immune to the basics of racecraft.
Trackdays are about fun and respect. Let’s not forget the second part as we hit the summer season. Drive safe, folks.

Unfortunately not an isolated incident. Hopefully not to much damage to yours?
There was an incident a few weeks back an EVO that somehow managed to plow into the back of a cayman GT4 on the sighting laps, car straight back on the trailer and gone no words at all to the GT4 driver.
Getting the damage assessed at the moment, also a GT4, must be something in the air. There was an incident a few weeks back an EVO that somehow managed to plow into the back of a cayman GT4 on the sighting laps, car straight back on the trailer and gone no words at all to the GT4 driver.

Shouldn’t there be some type of insurance for these incidents? I never done a track day so don’t know how it works.
Especially as some cars can be quite expensive.
Trackday insurance will cover your costs, not that of a 3rd party. They also stipulate a much larger excess than your typical road insurance, so, unfortunately, it does have an impact, having to pay for someone else's poor decision making. Especially as some cars can be quite expensive.
Yep , you turn up for a laugh and bit of fun and before you know it there is someone who thinks they are gods gift and going for stupid moves or the outright lap record........ It seems you are not alone as there is a YT`er trying for a lap record on a trackday and has also come to grief. Luckily noone else involved and flippantly posting about it for the clicks.
