Hi All,

I've got a 7 that I want to do some track days with and get some tuition. My helmet doesn't have the cut outs for intercom bits so has anyone tried any budget versions that use ear buds? I even wondered if noise cancelling ear buds and a phone call might work.

Any tips?

Thanks

There's loads on AliExpress for £10 which just have 3.5mm inputs so you could choose your own earphones.

I fitted a half decent setup in my 2-Eleven from Zeronoise with it properly integrated into my helmet, then a low profile set of ear pads and mic that I hoped could be bunged into helmets of coaches/randoms.

Honestly it's just never been used, by the time I get it wired up to a passengers helmet and we get out on track, all I can hear is wind noise and if I'm lucky an intense bit of mouth breathing. Lots of screaming at each other and not really knowing what each other are saying.

It's an excellent setup if both driver and passenger have it properly integrated and positioned within a helmet (it's the same system that Palmer sport use/used) but as a temporary thing for coaching it just hasn't worked unfortunately.

Hope you have better luck than I did!

Who do you want to talk to?

Take a look at some of the rally intercoms.
