I've a Neapolitan hairdresser friend who is learning English. She is B1 right now. She wants to come and work in the UK for a few months to improve her English.

Her idea was London, because she has a small support network there.

She has asked my advice. Which so far has basically been "London is too expensive and not all that friendly". I have not added that anyone offering her work will probably want her to be here for more than a few months. By the time she has learned where the products are kept she'll be leaving.

She has a son, who will remain in Italy. But she will want to return to see him.

I am afraid I am not being very helpful. I think I basically think it's a non-starter. Can anyone else think of any useful way she could come here, work, be paid and learn English? Ideally in her area of expertise, obviously.

TIA

If she wants to work (rather than a tourist visit) she might be better off trying Ireland (I presume she’s an EU citizen)

She is. Good point.

I am not sure whether the Irish accent may be a problem for her though.
