MTD software/app ??
Discussion
Hi All, I m a self employed gas engineer (non vat registered) & currently using Quickbooks Sole Trader Plus to do my accounting/tax duties. All was well until the migration to the MTD software & now it s a nightmare to navigate, upload receipts & keep track of income , expenses etc . The old app was a doddle & did everything I needed it to, not so now as the app is a complicated mess & very glitchy.
My question is, if you are a sole trader in similar circumstances to me what software are you using? The simpler the better, income/expenses with the ability to save copies of my invoices & receipts.
Sage or Xero are the other major players, Sage at first glance looks the simpler of the 2 platforms. I m ready to jump ship & leave Quickbooks so any advice is appreciated.

I've had to go down the Xero route as that is what my accountant is using. It's ok but a bit constraining in some aspects - you're stuck with the terminology they use for instance & they are keen to get you to use online billing & payments but you don't have to. One advantage is that there are hundreds of online videos to help if you get stuck on something. At the moment there is 80% off for the first six months.
