Dont do it!
Go for a more techical role within a dealership, get the qualifications, then if you still feel like being a salesman in 3/4 years time you will be able to understand the more technical questions customers ask, without having to read the brouchure, speak to the sales manager or other people or fob the customer off.
Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Don't listen to that, its not true, and a pointless pursuit, unless you want to be spoken to like sGo for a more techical role within a dealership, get the qualifications, then if you still feel like being a salesman in 3/4 years time you will be able to understand the more technical questions customers ask, without having to read the brouchure, speak to the sales manager or other people or fob the customer off.

I was 20 and doing demo's. when you're 18 I cant see an issue.
Our insurance excludes employees under the age of 21. We've employed people under this age who could go out on demo but weren't able to actually drive the cars. I suppose a lot will depend on the franchise and insurance risks.okgo said:

t by mecanics and salesman alike. If you are into cars at all, you will pick everything up very quickly and be able to answer ANY question asked within 6-10 months (as I could).
Parts staff were seen by our place as monkeys that couldn't do their jobs right, ever. And always ordered the wrong stuff. The money is s
t, and in that 4 years you might aswell see if you can sell, because if you can you will earn more and have more fun.haworthlloyd1 said:

I am 17 and i'd really like to become a car salesman. I would really appreciate it if you guys had any advice you could give me. I did work experience with Porsche, but unfortunately they couldn't offer me a job. I would be willing to do free weekend work initially to show my enthusiasm and commitment. I am willing to give anything a go.Edited by bigrobert on Thursday 3rd September 16:35
Many thanks,
Robert.
