Mrs gti is likely to be made redundant tomorrow.

The company she works for announced two weeks ago that they are closing the depot she works at ( part time 17hrs a week) at the end of September, and will be offering alternate employment / redundancy. She has her consultation tomorrow.

She has worked there for 11 months full time, then 9 months on maternity leave then 14 months part time since.

We are hoping that they offer redundancy as she has something else lined up, but not guaranteed. If they offer her another role, it will be further from home meaning more commuting, more fuel costs, increased nursery costs etc etc.

I have never been made redundant, and have no idea what she would be entitled to / offered.

Can anyone confirm what legal rights and entitlements she has. I have been told she is entitled to three months notice following offer of redundacy ( which they are obviously not going to give if closing depot in 4 weeks).

Any advice on how to get as much out of them as possible, as we could really do without this.

Unless she's got anything different in her contract, she will, as I understand it, be entitled to her notice period plus statutory redundancy pay of 1 week per year of service, up to a maximum of something like £350 per week.

As she's part time, I believe the pay will be pro-rated, but I'm not sure about the weekly maximum?

This is merely a vaguely educated guess though, not anything definite.

Unless it says otherwise in her contract or they offer something over and above that out of the goodness of their hearts (unlikely) she will get ger notice period plus a few hundred quid.
