Just out of interest really, what would a car sales exec selling at a premium dealer e.g Audi/Mercedes etc, expect to earn a year?

I was thinking about this whilst perusing a few local garages. The salesmen at the more mainstream dealers e.g Ford must turn over more cars (albeit at lower prices) than Audi etc so is there any difference in their respective earnings?

I've heard talk of £10K per year but that was a couple of years back, may have improved since then.

Usually expect a basic salary of no more than £13,000, with an OTE of anything from £25,000 - £40,000 for a bog standard sales guy.

Is that at any dealership? Are those in the premium marques not head hunted from the lesser brands?

I know someone whos quite high up at a Citroen dealership (yeah i know)

And taking the bulls**t factor into account he said if you work hard and depending on the dealership 30k is possible. so would imagine at a premium dealership maybe more.

Wow... here in America $45-50k is what an average salesperson makes, almost all of my guys (I'm a manager at a Toyota store) are doing $50-75k per year with a few breaking $100,000.

I used to be a salesperson.. Jaguar and then Lexus and I made, 10 years ago, $90-140k per year.

This is almost spot on. Prestige franchises will pay more but it's not a fortune.

CaptainCadillac - Got any jobs going?

At our BMW place, basics ranged from 12-16k.

And Earnings ranged from low twenties (crap salesman) to low thirties (average salesman) to about 70-80 (a couple of long serving very good salesman).

Don't get hung up on the brands though, I earned more selling MINI's that most of the BMW lot. And people in Ford were making more than that..
