Does anyone work in the industry?

I have just started looking for account exec roles within digital and seem to be crashing against a brick wall! I am a graduate with a 2:1 in PR and am looking to work within digital but every job that I come across doesn't want graduates but A/C execs with 6 months experience. I am pretty confident that if I sit down in front of a few people that I will impress, I just need a foot in the door! I do know the industry quite well, just not how to break in to it.

I am currently going through the NMA top 100 list but I don't hold out too much hope for this tactic, as I am clearly emailing HR departments who just send out standard responses.

Just to be clear, I'm not expecting a hand out, I am just curious as to how people got in to the industry?

Cheers

Bullett

I've never heard of this one - is that what the final certificate said ?

I didn't think you could do things like that at University,
so I've learnt something new there.

Is PR the same or different to Marketing ?

Well I did Fashion Promotion which encompassed Journalism, PR and Broadcast. I specialised in PR.

It is now possible to get a 2:1 in Fashion Promotion ???

Crikey, the modern world.

And I thought American Studies, Media Studies and Sports Science
were new.

It sure is, although don't let the fashion part fool you. It's not all frilly scarves, handbags and tight jeans. American Studies is a worthless degree, mine wasn't.

Not for an agency role no!

Bullett - A digital agency is an online advertising agency. They source and buy advertising space on behalf of a client. They will have good relationships with media houses and publishers and will negotiate a good deal and save the client the bother of having to do this themselves. Digital agencies specialise in online, there are others that specialise in magazines/newspapers and some that only buy job advertising.

I hope this helps!
