How long until you retire?
Discussion
I've retired three times now, and at 73 am still in full-time work with the same employer (although the first time I 'retired' I was on for them self-employed) Long may I continue to be here, as (1) I do enjoy the work and (2) I have become used to the extra wonga (of course the OH is also still in full-time employment at very slightly younger age but I think she is going to finish next June.) Well, I do have a car and caravan to maintain (the daily Rover 45TDI for commute Oxford/LHR, the caravan for pleasure) and a Ford Model A 1929 replica for fun. All costs, dunnit?
I do realise that at this age I am lucky to be in work, especially when I heard on the radio the other day of a bloke made redundant in 1983 who has only just got back in work...

Good point that - my Dad was in full-time work until he was 78 - six months after stopping work he was gone. While the primary cause of his demise was lung cancer brought on by very heavy smoking way back from then, I can't help thinking that, like a lot of others, he stopped too abruptly and the inaction did for him.Pete
