I am looking to get some experience and qualifications in Cisco.

Is the first step CCNA ? And if so, what book is suggested to study from ?

What exams do you need to pass to gain the respective qualification ?

For the CCNA all of the course material is online. You need to retake the exams every 3 years.

ETA I Can't remember exactly what exams you need to take but it should tell you on the cisco website.

First step is CCENT now, they added it last year I think. Its aimed at people who want to learn the basics.

CCNA also has other areas, security and voice etc.

If you continue through the Cisco certs, you re-certify ones you have previously taken. Eg, pass a CCNP exam and you recertify your CCNA.

Loads of info online, I found the CCNA Sybex book good and easy to follow. CCNP, CCDA etc I used Cisco's own books.

Have a look here:- http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/learning_car...
