Well - the dreaded moment has come today where I've been given notice that my position is at risk.
The news is that one of the team of 3 of us will go. I've been given documentation about the selection process which is only a selection matrix of our skills.
I'm quietly confident as I'm the longest serving member of the team, and the only one who joined pre-acquisition. I'm also the only one with the magic 2 years of experience under my belt.
My biggest concern is I'm paid a lot more than the others - can this be taken in to account given that the documentation I've been given indicates the only selection process is based on skills?

Cost can be a consideration when it comes to redundancy, because the idea is that they will be saving costs.
However, theoretically, if they have provided you with the scoring matrix and it doesn't mention salary, then to use it would be a little bit odd, and I'd say a breach of the DDP, given the requirement to be fair and to provide you with all the relevant information.

It doesn't matter what your experience or your salary. I was the general manager of 5 sites and I was made redundant 2 months ago, they saved my salary and now have my supervisor running the sites on half my salary. In the meantime I'm out of a job and finding it hard to get a new one

If it's not in the matix they can't use it to bin you. However if they want to bin you because of your pay they'll simply score you low on something on the matrix. You would think though that they would want to keep the best staff and not simply cut the most money.....
or get all three to sit an examination where the other two have been given the answers. Thanks all - my increased pay grade came about because I was offered a role with a different company last December and when I tendered my resignation was offered a fantastic package to stay as they 'couldn't afford to lose me'.
I'm quietly confident, but certainly not counting chickens...

If it does go sour do stay in touch. You never know who could use someone like yourself for a bit of consultancy.... I'm quietly confident, but certainly not counting chickens...

Thanks!
Didn't see you at VM09?
Mind you I think I've only just got over the hangover...The US guys and teh Sales Director were there. We even gave a session on the last day which was well attended though we'd thought people would have gone/found a bar by then.
