Looks to me like you're being kept down by a branch manager who doesn't want to lose you
The company have broken a number of promises and taken advantage of your good will. The issue is the lack of training and the promotion failed on that pretext
Before taking your bat home I would raise a formal grievance. This should be to the manager of the person who turned you down for the job, write to them in terms similar to those in your post saying you want a formal grievance hearing. They should then give you the chance to talk to a more senior
manager and the problem may well be resolved
I've got a large bet with myself that the senior managers haven't any idea at all about what's been happening and if the company is half decently run they'll be horrified. If it isn't half decently run there are further options...
