Police Cautions

Hi all,
Trying to apply for some temporary work over christmas, as after graduating this year i've still been unable to find work.
However at the end of my first year of uni (May 2007), I was also blamed for a friend breaking a chair in a nightclub and in the end received a caution from the police, but was too drunk to even really know that it happened until it was too late the next day.
On an application im filling in at the moment it's asking if i've ever received a caution, but is there any way of them finding out if I said no? As I was told employers wouldnt find out and that they're removed from your record after 3 years.
