Hi, I'm posting on behalf of my dad who finds himself (yet again) a victim of the recession. He hasn't had much luck in recent years in terms of finding a job that's stable. So I'm hoping there may be someone on PH who needs someone like him...

Long and short - he is a super sales rep and has sold all manner of things during his lengthy career: paint, fire cement, construction products, agricultural products, and a few more besides. And if he doesn't know about it, he will learn about it.

Most recently he was employed to run a valet parking business. He brought in the new business (hotels and the like), got the place staffed, did rotas and pretty much ran the whole thing whilst the senior managers watched from afar. The company then decided it wanted to go in a different direction and has said today that they are unsure what they are going to do with the staff. It's a case of, "Tell ya later".

He is 59 years old but does not fit the stereotype of being a "nearly retirement" age person. He looks younger than his years, dresses to impress and gives off the right image to customers - he looks, and is, responsible and professional. But he is also friendly and approachable, and is lots of fun with a great sense of humour.

What he really wants is somewhere to settle down until he retires. He will work until he is at least 65 and would like the stability of being able to just get his head down and get on with the job. Some people will see his age and put him in the "no" pile almost immediately. But the difference between him and a younger person is that he's not going to be looking to move for more money or a promotion in a couple of years. In short - he's a keeper.

So if anyone has a job vacancy they think they would like to fill, or knows anyone who has such a vacancy, please either post here or PM me. Thank you for any and all replies. smile

ETA - Either sales or management will do. He will do either. Or both.

Good pitch, sounds like your dad has all the credentials and just needs a break. 59 is no age and will soon by more than 10 years from retirement.
