I've been looking into CIW (Certified Internet Web) for a career change and prospects. I spoke to a bloke from SkillsTrain who seemed very keen for me to sign up for the course at £2925 (£75 per month). But after reading reviews and forums about SkillsTrain I have decide to look elsewhere.

Can anybody recommend anywhere. Distant learning would be best for me, but I'm more than happy to go to college - although my local colleges don't seem to do the courses I want.

Any help appreciated, as now I feel a bit stuck.

What interests you about web design?

Gut feeling is that it will be a waste of £3k, when you could continue working whatever you do now, spend a few hours each evening learning while you apply for jobs.

Thats what I currently doing by building and playing about with my own sites - but I don't think any future employer would consider me without some sort of formal qualification.
I don't want to spend any money if I can help it, but to get the qualifications I might have to.

Waste of time, I did it with NITLC and tbh I wish I didn't, work is experience is key rather than qualifications. In the end I went into a 1st line job, now doing 2nd and 3rd in Infrastructure which was def a better step.
