CV writing Companies?

Can anyone recommen a seriously profession and effective outfit who could help fine tune a professional CV? Don't think mine does me justice, and its not the opening the doors i hoped it would! I'm a mostly qualified management accountant wityh 8 years of varied commercial experience- but that experience isn't being presented as positively as it could be!

dont know any companies but from experience the best thing for a cv is to keep it to one side of one a4 piece of paper, i've overlooked too many cv's when i was a manager because they were too long. short, simple and to the point.

unless you are getting advice from someone inside your area of work, i'd say its useless. plus i think it all depends on what type of person you're targeting with your CV.

mine was written to be read by HR departments so was suitably floral and ticked all the boxes i thought they would be looking for. this has been pretty succesful with agency applications.

however for the industry i'm specifically targeting [i.e. dream roles] the CV is likely to be read by the head of the department i'd be working in and hence a more concise approach would be required.

depending on how far up the career ladder you are, i'd recommend finding someone in the role / job type you want to be in and as them for advice. i have been lucky enough to find a PHer who has given me some very valuable pointers and my CV has improved considerably.
