Driver CPC - Anyone had to do it yet?

Hi all

Im in the process of doing my HGV training, ive passed my theory and hazzard thing but now ive got to do the CPC Case Study module before i start on the practical. How many hoops do you have to jumpp through these days?

I was just wondering if anybody has done it yet and if so, what is the best way to revise? I cant seem to fine any type of revision material or even what i am supposed to revise.

CPC is easy, it's just a course that goes over skills you need to be competent. No revision necessary mate

Really? The few sites ive been n seem to make a big deal out of it. Is it all just common sense stuff then?

I did my CPC (National Freight) in 1987 and it was a multiple choice based largely on common sense. I admit it may have changed quite a bit since then, but if you have your head screwed on you should be fine.

Think the OP is talking about HGV vocational CPC.

Nicky, by law do you actually have to do anything related to the CPC before your practical or is this a company related thing?

Company related. They have said they will pay for my training if i get my Provisional, Digi tacho, Theory and this done. Talk about jumping through hoops.....

It's getting a nightmare now and if you don't work for a company that's 100% legit in every way then I'd seriously consider not doing it.

Wait until you see the rates of pay offered by agencies mate,you will wonder why you bothered,i did my class 2 in 2004 cost £2000,i have grandad rights on the driver cpc , but have to do the 35 hours classroom training , before 2014.

Tyre smoke- The CPC has moved on a fair bit since you took yours in the 80's, there is still a multiple guess section but they have also put in a written part as well. My writen part was to set up a company that removed chemical waste using 8 wheel tippers, this had to include ADR, employment and any other law/legislation needed. It was not easy I can tell you
All that I can say is I am glad I took my class 1 years ago as all this bulls@:t now would have put me off. If I'm honest as well the industry is FUBAR'd, I returned to driving 6 years ago as a self empoyed driver and my rates have had to go down so that I can compete with the foreign drivers who can work for silly money because they don't have the restrictions placed on them as we do.

I did it this morning, much harder than i thought.... passed with 44 out of 50

My fav question of the day was:

John has his dinner on the ferry crossing,n what is the BEST option?

~ Fried Bread, Sausage, Egg and beans
~ Chocolate, Crisps and carbonated drink
~ Big bag of chips to take away
~ Salad and Soup

What a stoopid question and how utterly pointless. Its obviously the breakfast with Mushrooms instead of beans (Beans are the devils food) and the chips on the side followed by the crips then choccie and drink to wash it down with

Tell me you are joking...please.
If not this must be another one like the standard driving test theory part where they seem to have run out of questions and just include made up crap.
As for that question it has to be Fried Bread, Sausage, Egg and beans as that would give you the most balanced meal of the lot and you'd certainly last longer than eating something you'd feed to a rabbit on hunger strike. Takeaway chips can be awkward as you can drop them whilst changing gear.

I wish i was joking but i am not, seriously! Mad aint it, annoyed me as much as the question i had in the theory a few months back that quite firmly STATED thet vehicles are causing the planet to blow up and what can be done to stop it.

I mean, do some people really think that a species as small and as insignificant as the human race can alter what millions of years of nature had already done? How did the last ice age melt ecactly? Was it some white haired loony in a DMC DeLorean driving around releasing toxic and deadly carbons into the atmos? No, it was natural warming.
