Im 20 at college currently finishing off my exams i have had two years at college where i didnt really achieve anything due to my family falling apart and me being constantly out of college and helping out. I dont know if thats maybe the problem everywhere iv applied for has turned me down even mcdonalds etc i have worked in a call centre for 3 months in 2008 and a nightclub in 2008 i have ok standard grades and a couple of intermediates. Anyone know why im not getting anywhere?
Thanks smile

what do you want to do?

where do you want to go in life?

...its a bit hard to get something or go somewhere if you dont know what you want or where you are heading.......

There's a recession on and a glut of under qualified unemployed people ahead of you already looking while you were studying.

Cut out the excuses for your bad grades, even if you think it's valid. In reality nobody really cares why they are not good. They simply are what they are.

Make use of any employment services in your area to polish your CV and keep plugging away. Or find a way to bump your grades up and go away to uni, but only if you think you'll get a 2:1 otherwise the debt is probably not worth it.

Look at further study and getting better qualifications. Be prepared to work during the day at menial jobs to fund that study if necessary.

Are you applications/CV written in the same way as your post?

If so, this might be a place to start.

rather than getting a.n.other job & trying to put yourself through the courses can you look into getting a job in the right sort of area, by doing that & showing enhusiasm it may lead to someone being willing to help put you through the training & assist you. alternatively are there any home study courses you can do around the subject? OU or similar, if you aren't working you may be able to get some funding towards doing them.
if you are definitely sure about going down the route into social work job wise see if you can volunteer with local groups (YOT etc) as this sort of experience would certainly look favourable on you when applying & later down the line & may give you other avenues/contacts into jobs in that area. (I have friends who have just been through this & started off as administrators)

as mentioned above there are alot of people out of work who are ahead of you but at least you know what direction you want to go in so go out & so look at other approaches to it as it won't just fall into your lap
